Iron deficiency is insufficient iron stores in the body. Iron is important to produce haemoglobin, a substance in red blood cells that helps it to carry oxygen. With iron deficiency, it may lead you to have tiredness and short of breath.
Oral/tablets can cause stomach upsets as a side effect, resulting in non compliance.
Some patients will be eligible for a iron infusion. You can discuss with a doctor on whether you are eligible for it and the cost for a funded iron infusion.
