I have been the Medical Director since we established the clinic over 20 years ago. I am proud of our team. My mantra is to employ staff who I would be happy to treat my own family. We have a great team. In medicine, I wear many hats. I am both a GP and Urgent care doctor. I do minor operations (skin). I with others established the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care. I remain on the Executive committee and am committed to medical education. Outside medicine: I am a keen mountain biker, tramper, tennis player and have a very supportive wife and nearly grown-up family

I gained my Medical Degree from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2006 (MBBS), and moved to New Zealand in 2007 to continue hospital training. I started work in the Three Kings Accident and Medical Clinic in 2013.
I have completed training in general practice and also urgent care.
I am skilled at Chronic care and with all aspects of family medicine, accident and emergency management, steroid joint injections, minor surgeries, fracture management, and Jadelle insertion/removal. I am trying to improve my skills in dermoscopy.
Since 2020, I have served as the Medical Director of the clinic, which adds to my responsibilities beyond patient care. As a result, I now work part-time in seeing patients.
I greatly enjoy the long term relationship developed with patients to improve their health and also to keep up to date with advances in medicine.
I am fluent in English and Sinhalese. I am married with two boys. I like to spend time with my family, watch movies, and listen to music in my free time. I also enjoy swimming, chess, and tennis.

Dr Himali McInnes
MBChB, FRNZCGP, Dip. Paediatrics, Dip. Tropical Med. & Hygiene
I was born in Sri Lanka and moved to New Zealand in my teens. I graduated from Auckland Medical School, and hold a Diploma in Paediatrics from Starship and Diploma in Tropical Medicine at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. I worked with the World Health Organisation for 2 years during the final years of Sri Lanka’s civil war. Upon returning to NZ, I completed my GP Fellowship training, and worked as a full time GP for 10 years in Mangere. I started working at Three Kings A&M in July 2019, and am loving the diversity of ethnicities and patient issues that present, and the great staff. I enjoy being a GP – it is a privilege to have patients share their stories and lives with us, and there is benefit to a long term doctor-patient relationship built on kindness and trust. I do minor surgery, joint injections, dermoscopy, and contraceptive procedures. Outside of work, I enjoy making a mess in various ways – cooking, painting, gardening, fermenting. I enjoy going for runs with my Huntaway cross. I write short stories, travel articles, essays, flash fiction and mediocre poetry. I am utterly addicted to books and dogs.

Dr Rakesh Premkumar
MBBS (UK), BMedSci (UK), PhD (Auckland), FRNZCGP
I graduated from Newcastle upon Tyne medical school in 2004 and hold a MBBS and BMedSci. I have had the pleasure of working in the NHS UK for 2 years.
After which I went to Singapore and also had the opportunity to work in various Singaporean Hospitals for a period of 2 years. An opportunity arose to take up a job in Invercargill, New Zealand in 2009 as a surgical registrar and since then I have been working in various New Zealand hospitals in both the South and North Island for a specific time period undertaking my Doctor of Philosophy in the University of Auckland. I realised general practice was my calling when I had a family and the whole encompassing care that general practice provides was truly appealing to me. I entered the RNZCGP training program in the year 2017 and I am in the final hurdle of finishing my fellowship. I enjoy all aspects of general aspects and really look forward to another day the work brings. I work all five days a week and I am accepting patients who would like to have me as their GP. I intend to provide comprehensive care to my patients with regard to both acute and chronic medical conditions. Outside of work I enjoy playing the violin, going for walks and learning to play the Mandalin. I have two young children who keep me busy.
